The annual Nomads Christmas trial at the Pickling Yards attracted a great entry of 39 riders who enjoyed 4 laps of ten sections set out as ever by Rey and Dave on the traditional Christmas venue of the Pickling Yards in Mortimer. Rey even managed to find some new going for several sections. The wet weather just beforehand meant the sections were a mixture of ditch crossings which became very deep), along with a couple on the clay banks which were like ice under the leaves. Happily, the sections on the other side of the venue remained dry due to the underlying gravel.
The extended Haines family (and others) provided refreshments, and ran a raffle to support the landowners charity which the club will make up to £200. We do still have some prizes to claim – so check your tickets – White 832, 833, 849, and Yellow 856. Contact Anne on 0118 933 3145 if you find one!
The A route was taken by Richard Norris on his Vertigo, B by Stefan Walters on his air cooled Fantic and the C by Diccon Dadey.
On the Pre 65 B route, John Hawthorne on the tiger cub was the best performance with a score that would have taken 3rd place in the modern classes.
In the Youth Classes, best performances in respective classes were Cerys Walters, Aaron Geater and Howard Mumford – Cerys score actually beat all the adult C route riders!
